I love Christmas. And I love decorating for Christmas! Surprisingly though I don't have a ton of Christmas decor. I've been slowly adding pieces to my collection as I find things I love and making doing with what I have or DIYing the rest!
When I got married we followed my husband's tradition of getting a live tree instead of using my fake tree (our fake tree is outside on our porch while the live tree is in our house...so weird...). I go back and forth between having a tree with all the crazy ornaments I have and having a fun and wild tree and having a classier tree with similar color ornaments.
This year we went more classy with ribbon and red, black, red and silver ornaments which transferred over through the house.
I made red pillows and white pillows with gold words last year so those replaced our hot pink and floral pillows that are perfect for summer.
Biggest tip for decorating for the season? Shop your house! I replaced our shelves with all black, white, gold and red things that I already owned.
On the top of the mantle I purchased a few trees and reindeer that can be used throughout the winter season and not just for Christmas.
I tied black and white ribbon around the reindeer's necks to tie in the black and white ribbon from the tree.
And to complete the room we added a simple garland and banner to the mantle!
So there you have it! A little bit of Christmas specific decor + some DIY + shopping your house = a Christmas filled living room!
