When I was working in Corporate USA I wore a lot of pencil skirts. They were my go to work outfit.
I wasn't to fond of the buttoned-up, finance girl look so I would always pair them with something a bit unexpected (on a side note, on more than one occasion I would have coworkers stopping by my desk to check out what I was wearing since I didn't quite fit the mold ;)).
I loved to pair my pencil skirts with screen tees, plain white tshirts with a ton of pearls or oversized tops.
Although I would go a little bit out of the box with my outfits I tried not to go too overboard. ;) If I went with a bit out of the box outfit I would do a little bit more muted accessories.
And since shoes are too much fun I would always add a bit of a funky shoe. This work outfit has just enough funk to make me feel like myself but professional enough that I didn't have to take a trip to HR to discuss the dress code. ;)
What kind of working girl style do you have? Do you rock black pants and a button up? Dressy dresses and heels? Pant suits? I'd love to know!
