Office supplies are some of my favorite things. New pens, blank planners and tons of items to keep me super organized are almost as good as a hot cup of coffee on a brisk fall morning. Over the years and throughout a variety of jobs, I've landed on a few key essentials that I always have at my desk to keep me productive and happy through the workday. Let's take a look!
#1: a planner
This year I used Emily Ley's Simplified Planner. Even if I don't look at my planner every day (which I totally should), I love to have a physical place to write down upcoming events, meetings, blog posts, etc. I'm also a big list girl so I start out each Monday with a list of things I need to get done each week and tackle them throughout the week.
#2: fresh flowers + a candle
These 2 items don't necessarily help me get tasks done but they definitely help my mental state! Fresh flowers help me to feel calm and happy and really help my productivity level.
When I'm feeling stressed or overwhelmed, I light a candle! The scent and sight of the candle helps me to relax and get back on track. This is something new to my essential list since working at home. Most corporate offices don't love it when you play with fire. ;)
#3: colorful pens + tape
If you've ordered anything from Paisley + Sparrow you've probably seen fun pink tape on the outside of your package (to make your package feel fun!), pink string around the jewelry box and a handwritten note from me on your invoice (I LOVE fun colored markers and pens).
Have a task you don't necessarily love to do at your work? Try to incorporate something fun (like a new highlighter, fun colored pen or your favorite colored paper clip! to make it a bit more enjoyable!
#4: a vision / inspiration board:
In between seasons I like to fill my bulletin boards with quotes that inspire me, jewelry or outfits I like, cards from friends or family and anything else that makes me smile.
Right now I'm filling my board with all of our upcoming fall items to make sure I'm all organized with enough product and different yet coordinating styles. It's one of my favorite things!
#5: chapstick + lotion
Again, not something that gets a task done, but have you ever tried to work when your lips were really chapped or your hands felt scaly? It's the worst! Rather than have to dig out lip balm everytime I need it, I simply keep some right on my desk. That way I'm not wasting time everyday looking around for it!
So there you have it! My top 5 office essentals. What's on your list?
